"Wandering the hills and moors near
my home here in Strathspey, I never cease to appreciate that
I live in one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas in
Europe.
Surrounded by breathtaking scenery and wildlife in abundance,
one of the most spectacular sights to be seen, must surely
be in late August and early September when the countryside
is covered in a mass of Heather blooms.
The Scottish Highlands are justifiably renowned for this
famous, but often underrated plant, which grows so profusely
in this part of the world. With its contribution to the scenic
splendours of Scotland inestimable, the praises of Heather
have been heralded in Song and Legend since time immemorial."
