| Yes they should be very well in most containers, as long as you use ericaceous compost (ideal for
acid-loving plants), allow adequate drainage and feed regularly. |

| No, the only heather seed harvested at the moment is the wild heather (Ling) which flowers purple in Aug-Sept. |

| Yes, providing they are well packed and not left in the packaging too long. |

| No, some foreign growers spray the heather with bright coloured dyes which have been mistaken for flower colour. Alpines similar to heathers have also been mistaken ie Lithodoro |

| Can heathers grow in the shade? |
| Yes, there are two which grow well in dappled shade - Erica Carnea and Erica x darleyensis |

| Do Heathers do well on a sloping site? |
| Yes, they give excellent ground cover. Special attention re watering must be given during the first year but once established can give a lot of pleasure for many years. |

| Do heathers need trimming back? |
| Yes, heathers will look better and last longer if they are trimmed after flowering every year. |
